About The Teacher's Search Engine

These days one of the challenges for teachers is finding resources -- lesson plans, printables, handouts, or places to interact and share with other teachers. Over the last few years, general search engines like Google have been overwhelmed by content, and particularly spam sites, and commercial content, so you have to wade through a lot of search results that are of no interest.

I decided to use existing technology to build a human reviewed search engine, so only the best sites are indexed.

Simple To Use, And More Efficient

The search engine looks pretty much like any other search engine, so it's easy to use. The difference is this. Instead of relying completely on "robots" to choose your search results, our search engine relies on human review to "validate" that a site should be included in the search engine. Humans screen out the junk, and the overly commercial sites, giving you a much cleaner way of finding what you want.

The is one more difference to help you search faster. When you do a search, you'll see a number of "tabs" at the top of the results. These are used to refine or focus more finely on what you are looking for. For example, let's say you are looking for discussion forums for teachers, and search for the term "forums".

You'll get a whole bunch of listings, but many of these include the word "forum" but don't link to places where teachers gather for discussion. If you click on the FORUMS tab/button, you'll see ONLY sites where teachers gather to share and interact. The result is you find what you need more quickly.

We'd love to hear from teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents on the content on this page and on how we can build better communication and cooperations between school and home. Our "commenting rules" are simple.
